Puritans believed that they were superior and any other belief or religion was wrong. The puritans community had extremely strong beliefs and because of this they were kicked out of England. John Winthrop was a puritan that wrote a speech that scared people into following him and his plans, most puritans were like this. John created this illusion that made fear among the puritans so that they can follow him. he also used diction to shape his words and manipulate the audience. John Winthrop main goals for him and the puritans that followed him were to be the better or superior race and religion.
