On September 7,2018 Barak Obama had went to university of Illinois to encourage students at the university to get out and vote. In his speech he uses a lot of shifts to get his message across. He starts of with I, you, they, we've, our, we, all of these shifts suggest that he wants the students of Illinois university to vote, along with, decent, honest, hardworking people, you. The main thing that Barak Obama is diction. There are many times that he used diction to get his point across. One of the times that he used diction in his speech was towards the end when he said "What's going to fix our democracy is you", this last part of his speech plays a big part in his speech because he's main goal was to encourage you to vote, to encourage the ones that are capable to vote to vote, because they are the ones that can do something to help out there future, the future.
